Hi,I've been distro snhppiog for a few weeks now and I must say, I really like what you've put together. I've been looking for a good, current distro that will let me keep my wobbly windows and rotating cube yet, be easy to navigate.Everything just works from the headset and webcam to the applications including LibreOffice. I also reallly like the way you've set up the dock. It's easy to configure and position the way I want it to be, and it's out of the way after I've selected the application I want to run.Thank you.Scott

Jeffrey More than most educators, you have a mdnsiet that seems to overlap that of a music therapist, for whom the experience of the player(s) is paramount. Obviously, to produce pro players, educators have to spend a lot of time on repetitious technique issues, but if they forget the needs and the musical life of the individual player, there's more chance of a price to be paid down the road (e.g. burnout and/or sterile playing and/or physical issues). Like everything else in music and music making, there needs to be some sort of balance depending on the motivation. For me it's very validating that a high level player and educator such as yourself has such a great feel for this issue and I wish you all success in spreading the word. Choice and consideration on the part of the player can refresh and renew the player and the music, whether on the amateur or pro level.

I am a middle of the road Linux user. I am very eeixrpenced with computers, and somewhat eeixrpenced with Linux but still unable to do some things which I think any user should be able to.Since 1995 I have used(or toyed with) Slackware, Redhat/Fedora, and SuSE 8/9/10. Not until I installed Ubuntu (5.04) and EFFORTLESSLY upgraded my distro to 5.10 have I found a Linux distribution so fantastically easy and capable. My thanks to the Ubuntu team, and the Ubuntu community in general for being so non-elitest and having real answers that don't involve my posting of multi-kilobyte configuration files which need to be edited by hand.Ubuntu has raised the bar.

Music started as an aural art, but the aural side of snhiciaumsip was effectively crowded out in the 19th century I wonder if you think that that, which was then compounded by the advent of recorded music, might be part of what Greg Sandow is concerned with, i.e. the growing loss of connection between the audience and performance of the canon. I can't help feeling that the fact that most folks encounter orchestral instruments only in formal settings, where there's a lot of immaculate recitation , but less of the personal and immediate, is one reason audiences are drifting away from classical music. Maybe that lack of balance in how people experience the music is part of the problem. In my limited experience on a very small scale, whenever a performance is tailored for a particular audience, and especially if there's a bit of improvisational content, the audience is much more engaged. My notion is that what you're talking about here can benefit the whole culture of classical music making, not just the players.
